The writer of this music and hymn text, Marianne Johnson Fisher (1932-2018), was blind from birth. Knowing that makes this text even more meaningful. Sister Fisher used braille scriptures totalling thirty-two large volumes to “search” her scriptures, so it was indeed a search. She felt that the word search is a more complete description of the reading plus pondering, meditating, etc. that is involved in thoroughly studying our scriptures.
