“Amazing Grace” – This song was written in 1772 by English Anglican clergyman and poet, John Newton. Newton had worked as a slave ship captain for many years but came to abhor the business. He turned his heart to God and became a pastor. This hymn’s powerful message comforts and strengthens us in the knowledge that forgiveness and redemption are possible, no matter our sins.
