Praise to the Man is hymn #27 in HYMNS of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (1985).

Text: William W. Phelps, 1792-1872

Music: Scottish folk song

Our arrangement (©2011 CC) includes:

SATB for organ or piano, the same SATB found in the current hymnbook of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  Choir or congregation members singing SATB parts can use the regular hymnbook.

Enhanced piano accompaniment which can be used alone, or with the organ SATB as a piano/organ duet accompaniment for congregational singing.

Instrumental countermelody which could be used on some or all verses.

In this sample, you will first hear the organ playing the SATB intro.  The enhanced piano accompaniment joins in for the first sample verse, with the instrumental countermelody joining both of them for the second. You will definitely be reminded of the Scottish origins of this melody with our arrangement.  The repeated bit in a minor key comes at the very end of the piece.  Suggested musical instruments for our countermelodies include flute, violin, cello, oboe and organ.
